Military AI Contracts Awarded to Anthropic, OpenAI, Google and xAI

 

The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), through its Chief Digital and AI Office, has awarded four separate contracts, each worth up to $200 million, totaling $800 million. These contracts were granted to Anthropic, Google (Gemini division), OpenAI, and Elon Musk’s xAI to develop advanced AI systems—often referred to as “agentic AI workflows”—for use across military, intelligence, and federal agency operations
